Somali Kittens

Somali Kittens

It was never my intention to  start breeding Somali cats…that was never the plan, but I woke up one morning 10 years ago tripping over litter pans on my way to the coffee maker. It all started with this little ball of fluff two years before (Somali kitten) all sandy sable colored that I just had to have…she was the sweetest thing I had ever seen I took her home and became absolutely fascinated with the breed.

Somali are so personable, affectionate, and extremely clever and like a potato chip one wasn’t enough. I felt that my little girl needed a playmate so I got another female about 6 months after the first…and from there it sort of snowballed and before I knew it I had 5 females, and two male Somali Cats.

I started breeding these cats because I adored this fantastic breed, and because I was genuinely involved in not only preserving the breed but teaching people the proper care of there cats. I had inherited a large home from my Aunt that I renovated the family room and turned it into a large cattery with outside access to a large enclosed area, and I converted the spare bedroom into a nursery. Not only was I good at it I received many accolades from other long time Somali Cat breeders and from more than one Somali Cat club as well. I was considered the top in my profession.

After all these years I still am absolutely in love with the breed, but I find that I no longer am able to put in the hours it takes to maintain my very high standards of breeding and impeccable care of these precious felines, so it is with some amount of sadness that I am no longer going to be breeding Somali Cats. I have gotten my cattery population down to three two spayed females and one neutered male (those I am keeping)…the last of the kittens were sold to fabulous homes last fall. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but its time.
